Selina Ma

Selina has a BA in Sociology in Dalhousie University and a Master degree of Social Work in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  She is also a professional member of the BC Association of Social Workers. 

Selina is experienced and has over 20 years’ clinical counselling experience, specialized working with individuals, couples, families and groups in Richmond, Greater Vancouver and the International countries (Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, France, England, USA, Toronto, Australia and other cities). 

As Selina valued the importance of delivering high quality, innovative service to clients and understands their needs, she took different certifications of Therapy Training Courses, including:  the Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy Training Courses and became a permanent member of the International Centre for Excellence (ICEEFT), the Certified Focusing Trainer of The International Focusing Institute (TIFI) and the Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator for over decades.  

Selina also gained reputation for program development, coordinating, teaching, and assessing different levels of the crisis caused by cultural differences between Eastern and Western.  She is a Public Consultant, providing educational seminars to different social services organizations, parenting groups and mass media. She is also the Certified Facilitator of “The Unloading Zone” – a personal enhancement program with youths, parents and adults and the Restorative Justice Forum – a program for young offender, funded by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (Richmond). In addition, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA – Richmond Branch) has invited her to serve as the council's director and vice president, dedicated to promoting civic education in the community, helping people with mental health problems, providing support groups and counseling services.

She recently moved to focus on her clinical counselling to the Embrace Counselling Services Centre as she is dedicated and compassionate to provide couple therapy and mental health counselling services to Cantonese, Mandarin, and English speaking individuals, families, as well as communities of cross- cultural grounds.
